2025-26 Government and Stakeholder Relations Priorities

August 2, 2024

1. ADP Pricing

  • Continue to focus on solutions with government to address rising costs. Continue to make the case for fair and sustainable pricing for ADP-funded devices.

2. Relationship Building with Decision-Makers and Influencers

  • We have successfully launched our landmark research report, “The Role of Assistive Devices in Helping Ontario Seniors Age at Home,” which illuminates the role of the assistive devices industry in enhancing the quality of life for seniors and with disabilities and enabling them to age at home, alleviating the strain on Ontario’s healthcare system.
  • With our research report as the foundation, we are launching a government outreach campaign that will educate MPPs and policymakers on our industry and the critical role of equipment providers. Our goal is to build strong relationships across government and advocate for changes within the assistive devices ecosystem that will benefit all stakeholders and help reduce the burden on Ontario’s healthcare system.

3. Expanding the List of ADP-Covered Devices

  • Our research report, “The Role of Assistive Devices in Helping Ontario Seniors Age at Home,” has highlighted that, while ADP funds mobility devices, it does not cover accessibility equipment, which many Ontarians with disabilities need to safely navigate their homes.
  • Through our government outreach campaign, we will advocate for the expansion of ADP coverage to include accessibility equipment. This expansion is necessary to ensure that Ontarians, and seniors in particular, have access to a complete range of devices that support their independence and quality of life at home.

4. Providing an enhanced refundable tax credit

  • To complement ADP, we are encouraging government to develop an enhanced refundable tax credit to help seniors and their caregivers make home alterations necessary to age at home.
