Kristin Maunula is a Mobility and Accessibility Consultant with Motion has over eight years ofexperience in the field. Throughout her career, she has focused on providing tailored mobility solutions for individuals with varying needs, including both the adult population and those requiring complex rehabilitation. Kristin's work is particularly centered around ensuring that individuals can maintain independence and improve their quality of life, regardless of their physical challenges.
A major area of Kristin's expertise lies in custom seating solutions, an area she is particularly passionate about. Custom seating plays a crucial role in enhancing comfort, safety, and mobility for individuals with complex physical needs. By designing and implementing seating systems tailored to each client's specific measurements and needs, Kristin ensures that her clients can achieve optimal positioning, support and function.
Kristin's training in both Ride Designs and PRM (Precision Rehab Manufacturing) further enhances her ability to serve individuals with complex needs. These certifications have allowed her to delve deeper into the intricacies of complex rehabilitation, providing a comprehensive approach to mobility and seating solutions. Whether working with individuals recovering from injuries, those with neurological conditions, or those managing long-term mobility impairments, Kristin is able to assess and develop personalized plans that are both practical and innovative.
Before stepping into her role as a mobility and accessibility consultant, Kristin worked as a rehabilitation assistant at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital. During her time at the hospital, she gained invaluable experience in supporting a wide variety of patients undergoing rehabilitation for both short-term and chronic conditions. This role laid the groundwork for her later transition into mobility consulting, as it gave her hands-on experience in understanding the diverse needs of individuals requiring adaptive equipment and therapeutic interventions. Kristin's role as a rehabilitation assistant also helped her develop strong communication and collaboration skills, allowing her to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists.
Her transition from rehabilitation assistant to consultant was fueled by her desire to make a more direct impact in the lives of individuals with mobility and accessibility challenges. As a consultant, Kristin enjoys the opportunity to build deeper relationships with her clients, truly understanding their personal goals and challenges. She works closely with individuals, their families, and healthcare professionals to assess needs, trial equipment, and ensure the right solutions are in place to enhance her clients' mobility and independence.
