2026-27 Government and Stakeholder Relations Priorities

Priorities 

1. ADP Pricing

• • Continue to focus on solutions with government to address rising costs and to make the case for fair and sustainable pricing for ADP-funded devices.

2. Relationship Building with Government Decision-Makers

• • With our landmark research report, The Role of Assistive Devices in Helping Ontario Seniors Age at Home, as a cornerstone, we will continue reaching out to MPPs, cabinet minsters and civil servants about the role of the assistive devices industry in enhancing the quality of life for seniors and those with disabilities. We are also briefing them on the pressures our sector faces from inflation- and tariff-driven cost increases.
  • Our goal is to build strong relationships across government and advocate for changes within the assistive devices ecosystem that will benefit all stakeholders and help reduce the burden on Ontario’s healthcare system.

3. Expanding the List of ADP-Covered Devices

• • Through our government outreach campaign, we are advocating for the expansion of ADP coverage to include accessibility equipment. This expansion is necessary to ensure that Ontarians have access to a complete range of devices that support their independence and quality of life at home.

4. Streamlining ADP Audits

• • We are advocating for improvements to ADP audits, including clearer, more consistent policies, greater transparency, and the establishment of an independent process for appealing audit outcomes. These reforms will make audits fairer, more predictable, and less disruptive for vendors.

5. Providing an enhanced refundable tax credit

• • We are advocating to government to develop a permanent enhanced refundable tax credit to help Ontarians with disabilities and their caregivers make the home alterations necessary to live independently and to age at home.
