Over the past 30 years I have worked in many roles. I started out as a Equipment and Oxygen Delivery driver for Burrows Medical in Toronto for around 4 years. I then transitioned to Medigas who bought Burrows Medical and did Shipping Receiving and then moving to Sales Mobility and Accessibility Consultant for 5 years. I was offered a Seating and Mobility position with Shoppers Home Health Care and after the acquisition of Shoppers with Motion and have been with this company for the last 21 years. My clientele is a cross section of young adults through to seniors in LTC’s. The best parts of my job are getting people up and about and allowing them the freedom to be more independent with their mobility. I believe in a “Team” approach and enjoy being with a company that promotes this attitude from the management group down.
I maintain and continue to maintain consistent educational training with regards to best practices and learning about new equipment. I regularly update my knowledge of the ADP policies and procedure.
Over the last 30 plus years I have been providing seating and mobility solutions to all people. I currently work with complex wheelchair clients as well as multiple LTC homes to provide seating and mobility solutions that enhance their daily lives. During all the years working with some of the most complicated seating clients I have had to complete custom seating certification and training for Ride Designs and Nova Seating Systems. My Technicians, the Occupational Therapist and I work in collaboration to design and create the fabrication of pieces of equipment that ensure client fit, safety and protect their skin integrity.
All the years I have worked in the industry and I still learn new things at least weekly and still enjoy when that happens. When I can learn something new and help someone in the future with that knowledge it is very satisfying. That’s why education is so important. The ability to learn something new and add it to your repertoire sets up successful outcomes for all involved.
My passions are spending time with my family, reading, gaming and watching hockey. I believe that quality time in free time allows for healthier relationships and interactions with co-workers and clients.
