Trainer Bio
With over a decade of experience in the medical equipment industry, I bring a strong technical foundation and a passion for enhancing mobility and independence through the proper use of assistive devices. My Career spans 10 years of hands-on technical work with medical equipment-specifically power wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs, walkers, modular and custom seating-as well as three years in a sales and educational capacity. This combined expertise enables me to bridge the gap between complex technology and practical clinical application, providing effective, real-world training for healthcare professionals.
Throughout my technical career, I developed a deep understanding of the mechanics, electronics, and customization potential of mobility devices. I have worked extensively with power wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs, including tilt-in-space systems, ultralight chairs and power add on components. My work has involved not only repairing and maintaining equipment but also fine-tuning device configurations to ensure optimal support, positioning, and function for clients with a wide range of medical and physical conditions.
My experience has allowed me to confidently provide training and education to Occupational Therapists and Physio Therapists for detailed, practical guidance in prescribing and setting up equipment, with a focus on clinical considerations, adjustments, and best practices when working with walkers, wheelchairs, and seating systems. My sales experience further broadened my understanding of how to evaluate individual client needs, communicate product options, and collaborate with clinicians to ensure that mobility solutions meet both therapeutic and lifestyle goals.
In Training sessions, I emphasize a hands-on, collaborative approach. I focus on the intersection of clinical reasoning and equipment capabilities-helping therapists understand how to match device features to client goals. I also cover essential topics such as wheelchair measurements, postural alignment, skin protection, pressure relief, propulsion efficiency, and transfer safety. For seating systems, I provide in-depth instructions on how to address common concerns like pelvic obliquity, kyphosis, and scoliosis through appropriate components.
